10 Cane Rum sponsors MISSALLFUN
Thats right. 10 cane rum was so savvy and smart to sponsor the party of the year, a true Gemini and a mess of fun! Forget what you think you know of rum and try this. Labeled The Taste, 12 of missallfuns dearest friends who took the time in their oh so busy schedules to live in the lap of luxury had a complete 10 cane rum experience on Saturday night. Starting with a rum tasting to set the tone. Need I say how this night ended? The event took place at Graze restaurant in Chicago where we were greeted by several of our own mixoligist who carefully paired a signature cocktail to compliment every course. Everything was perfect, a tablescape with a stamp of approval. Missallfun too loves a natural butcher paper lined set. Dim lighting, good conversation and crisp cocktails kicked off the event. The Millionaire Mojito and The Hemingway were amongst our favorites. 5 fantastic courses later our bodies felt great, happy little creatures to take on the night. some pics to see what you missed out on. No molasses here!
"India" by Michael CogIiantry
You may know him from his Furry Kama Sutra project but in 2007 Michael is debuting "India". Known as Team Good Korma (a pun on the word that means curry), the threesome—local art director Anthony Munoz, photographer Michael Cogliantry and cinematographer Adam Sternin embarked on the Rickshaw Run, a two-week, 2,200-mile race from Cochin to Darjeeling on two automated rickshaws purchased with $2,700 the three raised to benefit Mercy Corps, a charity in Darjeeling. I was at the opening in Chicago and was blown away by his captivating images and his comedic narrative style. Michaels newest project can be seen at the Country Club Gallery (they have a pink stove there!) in Wicker Park. Check out the blog! www.goodkorma.com

Willie Colon, The Player. This 2disk set reviews the best years of the legendary musician from the 60's into his superstardom salsa days. Turn it up super loud, and house cleaning isnt really that bad. Also a sure hit at my cocktail party this weekend. Salseros unite! Available at Virgin and Dusty Groove

Indulge Boutique Chicago
Here is a sneak peak of somethings to look for at Highland Parks new Indulge Boutique opening this summer! Accessories like this amazingly sweet gold jeweled bear with matte limbs ( ohh the attention to detail they have over there), headbands, hair clips, paper goods, delicate scarfs and adorable dresses are just a few to get you started. The tiniest boutique in the city is currently at 110 E. Delaware off the Magnificent mile but expect something BIG mid June when misspinksun heads to the burbs for round two!
Sac Lunch? Missallfun saving for shoes so soon?
but of course! Actually just thought Id share my fab lunch with you. Leftovers can be tres chic at the office. Jerk shrimp over peppered rice and fresh blackberries for a hint of sweetness. My favorite Wallaby organic yogurt and a lovely pink lady apple for my afternoon snack wont have me down on myself for skipping the gym.
Fresh buys at TARGET
My favorite Target shopping partner, yes Ari, thats you, and I picked up some great purchases over the weekend we really dont need but could not resist. Amongst my favorites: this wonderful Merona multi-color canvas bag a whole $16.99(perfect for sleepovers/gym/picnics) and cutesy Mossimo gold chain link accented white flip-flops $14.99 (comfy rubber soles!) that will indeed be filthy by the end of the summer. The best part? I will be guilt free of these purchases!!!
NYT blurb: I like this guy
Photo Courtesy of Adam Friedberg via NY Times.
I was browsing the NY Times style Mag and came across this cool guy that id just love to set up some single friends of mine, or have in my circle of characters. I mean this simple living seems rather big and something I applaud.
Heres the text:John Slavin: MALIBU When John Slavin purchased more than an acre of land high up in Malibu Canyon, his friends expected him to erect a massive home. Instead, Slavin, a real estate developer, built an 800-square-foot house. Three of the four exterior walls have steel doors that roll up, exposing the property to the open air. "I like the idea that a mountain lion might crawl in bed with you some nights," Slavin said. A conservationist, he uses little electricity and has no heating or air conditioning. "It’s a litmus test for women," he said. "If they can’t handle it, they’re not for me."

Blogging Living etc for fun ideas:
A trip to home depot a few weeks ago really turned out well. I got two fantastic plants to add some green to my busy doorstep and some other smaller plants for my windows. Continuing my doorstep project, last night I hung two great Ivory linen panels that should soften up my entryway while keeping those darn flies out! Im getting very excited about my storefront apartment and hope to get the most out of it this summer. I cant wait to pull open those two great doors and breathe in some fresh(city fresh) air.
